I recall, early in my search to know how to relate to God, that I knew that it had to be the most basic and clear thing for anyone to grasp. I have come to appreciate the simplest explanation of how to reach out to God. It is simply the recognition that he is God, and I am not. I have a need for God, exemplified by the presence of his son Jesus. I know that I cannot save myself, nor make myself presentable to him on my own. I simply trust that.
Humility is the beginning of wisdom. As Jesus said in the Sermon on the Mount, those who have humility have found the keys to the Kingdom. Isn’t that just the coolest thing?
